The Fog Diptych

or, to carry on my current di Prima kick on this obscured morning:

One Haiku; Four Takes
after Diane di Prima

Early morning fog
Six crows circle the river
Seeking the lost trees

The thinned-out forest
Even sparser amid fog
Six crows; six shadows

A burr of pale fog
Six dark hearts, falling towards
The tree-line; no trees

Somewhere, a river
Somehow, the fog-tamped woods
Here, six crows, turning.
